About Evans Guitar Lab

Ian Evans is Evans Guitar Lab. Also known by his stage name Ant, he has played in local Welsh bands since the early 80's with names such as Uncle Salty, Final Demand, Rogues Gallery and is currently playing lead guitar and backing vocals with Not the SOS.

 Ian has played, maintained, repaired and customised guitars for over 40 years. From initial tinkering with guitars as a young lad to taking on full refurbishments, customisation and rebuilds for professionals, colleagues and friends. He is now able to provide these skills to a wider audience through Evans Guitar Lab.

After training as an industrial engineer, Ian worked within the entertainment industry. Initially working within sound and power management that eventually led to a career in Education at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, where he finished his time there as the Head of Stage Management and Technical Theatre.  Education is at Ian's core. Continual learning and development of his own skills and abilities is why he sees his workshop as a Laboratory. Hence the name; Evans Guitar Lab.
